KHUZDAR: At least two individuals were killed, and five others sustained injuries in a bomb explosion that rocked Khuzdar town late on Sunday evening.
Authorities reported that the powerful blast occurred at Umar Farooq Chowk, a bustling shopping area in Khuzdar. The explosion happened while numerous people, including women and children, were engaged in Eid shopping.
“A total of two fatalities and five injuries have been confirmed from the blast,” stated a senior officer. Law enforcement personnel swiftly responded to the incident, relocating the deceased and injured to Khuzdar Teaching Hospital.
Hospital authorities affirmed, “We have admitted two deceased individuals and five injured persons to the hospital.”
Police sources revealed that unidentified individuals planted an improvised explosive device (IED) on a motorcycle, strategically parking it at Umar Farooq Chowk.
“It appears that the motorcycle-borne IED was activated via remote control,” remarked the police.
Although no group has immediately claimed responsibility for the explosion, ongoing investigations seek to unravel the circumstances behind the incident.
