ISLAMABAD: Former Federal Minister for Human Rights, Shireen Mazari, has declared her resignation from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) political party as well as her departure from politics altogether.

During a press conference held in Islamabad, Mazari expressed her strong condemnation for the events that took place on May 9 and 10, and she has submitted an affidavit regarding these incidents.

Mazari emphasized the need to denounce attacks on state institutions, a sentiment she shares. Citing the personal hardships endured by herself and her daughter, Iman, she announced her decision to step away from the realm of politics.

Mazari confirmed her departure from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, clarifying that her health, children, and mother take precedence in her life, with no other matters of significance.

Concluding the press conference, Shireen Mazari disclosed her deteriorating health condition.

Subsequent to her announcement, the former federal minister departed without addressing any queries from the media representatives.

In a separate development, Jalil Sharqpuri, a prominent leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, also distanced himself from the party.

In a statement issued on the matter, Sharqpuri expressed his alignment with the Pakistan Army and cited PTI’s policies as the reason for his inability to continue his association with the party.

Sharqpuri lamented Tehreek-e-Insaf’s inability to maintain the satisfaction of its allies, attributing it to the party’s incompetence.
