ISLAMABAD: The Government of Pakistan has approved digital visas for citizens of 126 countries, permitting visa-free entry for business and tourism purposes.
According to a media report, the federal cabinet, led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, approved a plan to boost investment and trade with friendly countries by allowing investors and businessmen to enter without a visa.
The cabinet also agreed to set up special courts under the SECP Act 1997, sign an agreement with Denmark, and add more members to the Privatization Commission Board.
While speaking at the cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister said the government is working to make it easier to do business in the country.

Referring to a recent meeting with different government departments, he said they have agreed on a new visa system to encourage investment and tourism, including religious tourism in the country. He also noted that this visa system will be presented to the cabinet for approval.
Sharing details of the new visa regime, the Prime Minister said it includes major changes, such as offering free visas to businessmen and tourists from 126 countries.
He expressed confidence that this policy will open Pakistan’s corridors to tourists and the business community. He also noted that visas will be issued within twenty-four hours through an electronic travel authorization form.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said e-gates will also be set up at nine airports and Gwadar port. He added that these e-gates will be established at Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad airports in the first phase.
