The Bloomberg Billionaires Index has revealed that the world’s 12 richest people collectively gained $36 billion in net worth on Thursday, bringing their total combined gains for 2023 to $264 billion.
This is largely due to the powerful rally of the stock market, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq rising by 2% and 2.4%, respectively. Bernard Arnault and Mark Zuckerberg are the biggest winners on the list, with $46 billion and $42 billion added to their fortunes, respectively.
Other notable gainers include Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, and Francoise Bettencourt-Myers, who each gained around $27 billion, $25 billion, and $23 billion, respectively.
The technology sector, including companies like Microsoft, Meta, and Tesla, has led the market higher, attracting investors’ attention on artificial intelligence and other innovative technologies.
