ISLAMABAD: Speaker of the National Assembly has decided to eliminate over 200 jobs in the National Assembly Secretariat as part of a restructuring plan.
According to a private TV channel, the decision was approved during a meeting of the Finance Committee, chaired by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq.
The restructuring will save around one billion rupees annually, a statement issued by the National Assembly Secretariat said on Sunday.

The statement explained that the restructuring is aimed at making the Secretariat more efficient and active, according to its needs.
The NA Secretariat further stated that in the first phase, 90 unnecessary positions will be cut, while in the second phase, 130 more positions will be removed. This will result in an annual saving of 560 million rupees.
The statement also mentioned that in the third phase, administrative reforms will be carried out, which will save an additional 400 million rupees.
