The finance division stated in a notification that the new prices were determined based on recommendations from Ogra and relevant ministries.
Ogra’s notification also mentioned that the price of an 11.8kg LPG cylinder for June is now Rs2,838.31, compared to Rs2,892.91 in May, making it Rs54.6 cheaper.
The notification further explained that consumers will now pay Rs240.53 per kilogram for LPG, down from Rs245.16 in May.
Ogra noted in a separate press release that the price of LPG is linked to Saudi Aramco-CP and the US dollar exchange rate.
On May 16, the federal government had announced that the petrol price would remain unchanged at Rs252.63 per litre for the next two weeks. However, the price of high-speed diesel was reduced by Rs2 per litre, bringing it to Rs254.64 per litre. These prices were effective from May 16 to May 31.
On April 30, the government lowered both petrol and diesel prices by Rs2 per litre, setting petrol at Rs252.63 per litre and diesel at Rs256.64 per litre.
On April 15, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that instead of further reducing fuel prices, the benefits of lower global oil prices would be used for development projects to support the public.
