Last August, ahead of the February 8 general elections, Memon was replaced by Additional IG Mukhtar as Sindh’s inspector general of police by the federal government.

During his previous tenure, Memon implemented significant reforms within the police department through his effective policies.

Upon assuming the role of PPO, Memon implemented various initiatives, notably the restructuring of the police department to align with modern standards. This included the establishment of specialized units to combat violence against women, particularly addressing the issue of Karo-Kari.

To tackle the narcotics issue in the province, Memon established a vigilant team utilizing the services of the Special Branch Sindh, which conducted raids to curb drug trafficking.

Under his leadership, several police officers were apprehended, dismissed, or suspended for their connections with criminal elements during operations.
