LAHORE: Renowned diplomat Shahryar M. Khan, former Chairman of PCB, passed away in Lahore.
Shahryar Khan, also a former national cricket team manager and twice PCB chairman, died as confirmed by his family.
Born on March 29, 1934, in Lucknow, India, Shahryar Khan received his primary education there before pursuing higher studies in England. Following the partition, his family migrated to Karachi, Pakistan.
Khan, distinguished for his diplomatic career, served as Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary. Additionally, he held roles as the manager of the national cricket team and served twice as PCB chairman. He was the cousin of former Indian captain Nawab Mansoor Khan Pataudi and was highly regarded for his expertise in India-Pakistan cricket diplomacy.
Shahryar Khan passed away at his residence early Saturday morning at the age of 89. He is survived by his widow and four children. His body will be transported to Karachi via Air Ambulance for funeral prayers in the city.
