MULTAN: Long-time politician Makhdoom Javed Hashmi alleged that his residence, ‘Makhdoom Rasheed,’ was forcibly entered by police late Wednesday night, resulting in the arrest of his son-in-law, Makhdoom Shahid Bahar Hashmi, who is backed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), along with his grandson Qasim Hashmi and household staff.
According to Hashmi, around 20 Punjab Police officials surrounded the residence at 1:00 am, entering without a warrant and violating the sanctity of the house. The incident occurred just as a PTI workers’ convention was scheduled to take place.

In a statement, Javed Hashmi expressed that his son-in-law and grandson were taken into custody without legal grounds, and all the household employees were detained as well. He claimed that the police forcefully entered the premises by breaking the doors.
Javed Hashmi further noted that PTI candidates Meher Bano Qureshi and Zain Qureshi, the children of incarcerated PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi, were also supposed to attend the convention despite the untimely raid.
Despite the circumstances, Makhdoom Zahid Bahar Hashmi, a close relative of the veteran politician, affirmed that the workers’ convention would proceed as planned at Hashmi’s residence, and the PTI candidate for the NA-151 constituency, Meher Bano, would still be in attendance.
