ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has prohibited the caretaker government from initiating any restructuring of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) , according to a report by a Private TV Channel on Wednesday,.
Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb of the IHC presided over a hearing regarding a petition filed by an FBR officer. The petitioner contended that restructuring the board falls outside the purview of the caretaker government and urged the court to halt such actions.
The petitioner’s legal representative highlighted that despite the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) blocking it under the Election Act 2017, a committee was still established.
After considering the arguments presented by the counsel, the court decided to suspend the notification regarding the formation of the FBR’s restructuring committee.
