KARACHI: A new parking space for 500 vehicles in Saddar will open after Eid, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab said while visiting Empress Market. He mentioned that the parking problems in Saddar are being worked on, and this new area, where the paving is already done, will be ready soon.
During his visit, Wahab checked on the repair work happening inside Empress Market. He said efforts are being made to fix it up while keeping its history intact.
The mayor also said that roadside parking issues in Karachi are being fixed, with more parking spots being built, like one near Bolton Market. Steps to improve traffic in Saddar are also moving faster.
Wahab shared that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) asked the Sindh governor for railway land to use for parking. He said if they get it, it could help solve parking problems on II Chundrigar Road and nearby areas.
Later, while talking to reporters, Wahab said a new bridge will be built at Quaidabad Murghi Khana after Eid. He also mentioned that another bridge near Jam Sadiq Bridge will open soon to help people get around the city better.

Speaking about other projects, Wahab admitted there were delays in building an underpass at Meena Bazaar. But he said the Karimabad Meena Bazaar underpass will be finished this year.
The mayor said his team is focused on solving people’s problems by using what they have wisely. He noted, “Karachi’s issue has never been about not having enough, but about not trying hard enough.”
He also pointed out the need for motorways in Karachi, Hyderabad, and Sukkur. He wondered why the federal government hasn’t started building them in Sindh, saying that without them, big trucks use city roads, causing traffic and safety problems.
Wahab asked for help in improving the city, inviting everyone to work together for Karachi’s progress.
