ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, received a telephone call on Sunday from Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi. They exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East, with a particular focus on the ongoing plight of Palestinians in Gaza, according to an official statement.
In response to the proposal to displace the people of Gaza, the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister described it as deeply troubling and unjust.
“He emphasized that the Palestinian land belongs to the Palestinian people and the only viable and just option is the two-state solution, in accordance with the UN Security Council resolutions,” said the Foreign Office Spokesperson in a press release.
The statement further noted that Pakistan would continue to support the creation of a sovereign, independent, and contiguous Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
The Deputy Prime Minister also expressed Pakistan’s support for the convening of an Extraordinary OIC meeting of Foreign Ministers to discuss this issue.
Both ministers agreed to maintain close contact on these developments in the coming days.
