RAWALPINDI: Security forces successfully killed four terrorists in two separate operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as the nation persists in its anti-terrorism efforts.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released a statement detailing an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Mir Ali, North Waziristan district.

In the Mir Ali operation, a fierce firefight ensued, resulting in the demise of the high-value terrorist commander Tabassum, also known as “Qadarman,” and another militant named Sajid, alias “Sarkandi,” both dispatched to the afterlife by the security forces.

Simultaneously, in another joint operation in Dera Ismail Khan district’s Kulachi area, security forces and police successfully neutralized two wanted militants. The killed terrorists were found to possess weapons, ammunition, and explosives, having been actively involved in various terrorist activities against security forces, as well as extortion and targeted killings of innocent civilians.

The ISPR emphasized ongoing sanitization operations in the region to root out any remaining terrorists, with local residents expressing appreciation for the operations and pledging full support to eradicate the menace of terrorism.

Notably, Pakistan has experienced a concerning surge in terror-related incidents since the Taliban assumed control of Afghanistan in 2021. The year 2023 witnessed 586 terror attacks, with 17% attributed to banned terror groups such as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), Daesh, and others.
