KHUZDAR: A police official was martyred while two others were injured after their vehicle was struck by a magnetic improvised explosive device (IED) in Khuzdar, Balochistan on Sunday.

The police stated that Counter Terrorism Department’s (CTD) Station House Officer Mohammad Murad embraced martyrdom in the blast when his car was targeted on the Sultan Ibrahim road.

The police further mentioned that the injured have been taken to the Khuzdar Teaching Hospital.

Caretaker Federal Minister of Interior Sarfaraz Bugti, addressing Geo News after the incident, emphasized that the entire nation must unite in the fight against terrorism as it poses a significant challenge.

“The battle against terrorism concerns not just CTDs but the entire nation,” he added.

In October, two individuals were martyred and three were wounded in a roadside explosion in Balochistan’s Chaghi area.

As per the Levies force, the blast occurred in Chaghi bazaar — approximately 60 kilometers from Dalbandin near the Pak-Afghan border — as a security forces vehicle was passing by.

This incident followed shortly after over 60 people lost their lives in two separate suicide attacks in Balochistan’s Mastung and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hangu city on September 29.

Pakistan has experienced a notable increase in the recent wave of terrorist attacks across the country.

According to a statistical report from the independent think tank Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), the first half of 2023 saw at least 271 militant attacks, resulting in the loss of 389 lives and injuring 656 individuals. Terror activities escalated by 79% during that period
