ECP, Caretaker Government Working to Secure Two-Thirds Majority for Nawaz Sharif: Aitzaz Ahsan

ISLAMABAD: Veteran politician and esteemed lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan asserted that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the caretaker government are trying hard to make sure Nawaz Sharif wins by a big margin in the next general elections.

Ahsan explained, “Right now, they’re deliberately working to help Mian Sahib win a big majority. This includes the election commission, government officials, and caretakers. But it won’t be easy.”

He believes Nawaz Sharif will likely become Prime Minister again. “He’s pretty much acting as the Prime Minister already. He’s getting treated like one, and this would be his fourth time. The rest is just following the formal process.”

Ahsan said that if things were fair, the PML-N’s role in the next National Assembly would be small. “If everything is fair, the PML-N won’t have much power in the upcoming assembly.”

Describing the PML-N as the ‘favored one,’ Ahsan noted, “The PML-N has received special treatment. Look at Nawaz’s four years in London; have other prisoners been given such privileges? He said he’d be gone for a short while, but the person who guaranteed him ended up becoming the Prime Minister.”

He added, “The Pakistan Muslim League Noon (PML-N) aren’t just favorites; they’re in a league of their own.”
