Shahid Afridi meets PM Shehbaz, lauds Pakistan Army’s achievements

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with former national cricket team captain Shahid Afridi on Friday. Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar was also present at the meeting.

Shahid Afridi shared photos of the meeting on his social media and wrote that it was an honour to meet the Prime Minister. He congratulated the Prime Minister and Pakistan’s brave armed forces on the successful Operation Baaniyaan-ul-Marsous, saying the nation celebrates this day as a “Day of Gratitude.”

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also presented a shield to Shahid Afridi.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s women cricketers also celebrated the Day of Gratitude with great enthusiasm and showed full support for the armed forces. Before the Women’s National T20 Tournament matches, players offered special prayers for the martyrs of the country.

Special prayer ceremonies were held at National Bank Stadium during the Challengers vs Stars match and at Oval Academy Ground during the Strikers vs Invincibles match.

Women players and officials prayed for the martyrs and paid tribute to their sacrifices. They said the whole nation stands united with the armed forces like a strong wall. The sacrifices of the martyrs will always be remembered, and their families have the nation’s full sympathy.
