KARACHI: The Inter-Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) has introduced a fresh grading system for both matric and intermediate examinations nationwide, aiming to alleviate the pressure on students to compete for marks and to ensure a higher quality of education provision.
As per the IBCC, the outcomes of the annual exams for 9th and 11th grades will be disclosed utilizing the novel grading structure in 2024.
Transition to a 10-Point Grading System ;
It’s important to note that the recently implemented grading system consists of 10 points (A++, A+, A, B++, B+, B, C, D, E, U) in contrast to the prior 7-point system (A-1, A, B, C, D, E, F).
Aimed at Reducing Competition: Purpose of the New System ;
The IBCC emphasized that the updated system intends to discourage the intense competition among students, parents, and educational institutions solely focused on achieving top marks. The new 10-point grading format is designed to improve the assessment and evaluation methods for students.
