KARACHI: The caretaker government of Sindh has recently made a significant decision aimed at preserving the Urdu language while introducing English as the medium of instruction to transform the education system.

To implement this decision, the Director School Secondary Karachi, acting on official directives, has issued a formal notification. Copies of this notification have been dispatched to Education Minister KPA Haleem Soomro and other relevant authorities for their information.

According to the notification, a notable change has been made in the educational landscape, with secondary and higher secondary schools transitioning to English medium instruction.

This change is scheduled to take effect from the upcoming academic session in 2024-25. However, it’s important to note that provisions will be made for students who have been pursuing their education in Urdu medium.

To facilitate this transition, all TEOs (Teachers’ Education Officers), Principals, and Headmasters (HMs) have been given specific instructions. They are directed to request English medium educational materials and textbooks starting from the academic session of 2024-25.

This directive underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining the Urdu language’s significance while adapting to a more globally recognized medium of instruction.
