The appointment of Admiral Naveed Ashraf as the new head of the navy was announced earlier in the week by the Director General Public Relations (Navy), who specified that the change of command ceremony was scheduled for October 7, which is today. The announcement also mentioned that on the same day, Vice Admiral Naveed Ashraf would be promoted to the four-star rank, marking his official start as the Chief of Naval Staff.

In his farewell address, Admiral Niazi congratulated Admiral Naveed Ashraf on his new role and praised his illustrious career, characterized by remarkable achievements. Admiral Niazi expressed his confidence in Admiral Naveed Ashraf’s capabilities, affirming his belief that the newly-appointed chief would lead the navy to new heights.

Admiral Niazi emphasized the strength of the Pakistan Navy, describing it as a robust and crucial component of the country’s armed forces, dedicated to safeguarding maritime frontiers. He also highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to collaboration in maritime security matters.

Touching upon regional dynamics, Admiral Niazi commented on the perceived changes in India’s approach, suggesting a shift towards fundamentalism, extremism, and expansionism as it transforms into Bharat. He expressed concerns that this shift could complicate future security challenges, calling for Pakistan’s preparedness and professionalism in responding to these challenges while maintaining its self-esteem.

Additionally, Admiral Niazi emphasized the significance of the blue economy, underscoring its importance for any nation.
