ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has rejected Deputy Commissioner Irfan Memon’s unconditional apology in a contempt case related to the issuance of Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) orders, which led to the arrest of PTI leader Shehryar Afridi on Thursday. Justice Babar Sattar presided over the case, with DC Irfan Memon, SSP Operations Jameel Zafar, and others also in attendance.

During the proceedings, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Memon and SSP Operations Jameel Zafar were present in the courtroom as the legal battle continued. The case revolves around DC Memon’s alleged overstepping of his authority in the arrest of Shahryar Yar Afridi through the issuance of an MPO.

In a dramatic twist, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad sought to mend fences by offering an unconditional apology to the court, emphasizing his commitment to resolving the matter amicably. However, Justice Babar Sattar expressed his discontent with DC Memon’s behavior and issued a stern warning.

“Are you attempting to approach me through family and friends?” Justice Babar Sattar questioned DC Memon. He further warned, ” DC Sahib , you are treading on thin ice.”

DC Memon vehemently denied any improper approach and vigorously defended himself, asserting, “I swear that I did not make any such attempt.”

Lawyer Raja Rizwan Abbasi acknowledged the gravity of the situation, stating, “We are at the mercy of the court.”

Justice Babar Sattar, however, remained unwavering in his pursuit of justice, asserting, “Mr. DC, you stand accused of obstructing justice.”

Ultimately, the Islamabad High Court rejected DC Islamabad’s unconditional apology, affirming a resolute stance on the matter.

“Concentrate on presenting your legal defense,” Justice Babar Sattar advised, underscoring the importance of adhering to the legal aspects of the case.

As the proceedings continued, Justice Babar Sattar encouraged all parties involved to collectively determine the course of the trial, emphasizing that the case would be adjudicated in strict accordance with the law.

Raja Rizwan Abbasi, counsel for DC Memon, provided guidance to his client, stressing the need to focus on the legal intricacies of the case.
