ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has issued a notice to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on the bail application of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in the cipher case.

Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Aamir Farooq heard the case related to PTI chairman’s bail application in the cipher case.

On behalf of Imran Khan, lawyer Salman Safdar appeared in the court and during the hearing, PTI chairman’s lawyers repeatedly requested an early hearing.

Chief Justice Amir Farooq remarked that there is a procedure, and the case will be decided accordingly.

The Islamabad High Court issued a notice to the FIA on the bail application of Chairman PTI and sought its response.

It may be recalled that Chairman PTI was arrested from Lahore on August 5, 2023 after serving 3 years in the Tosha Khana case and then he was transferred to Attock Jail.

Later, the FIA also arrested Imran Khan in the cipher case on August 19.

Despite the suspension of the judicial court’s sentence in the Tosha Khana case by the Islamabad High Court, Imran Khan’s release was not possible because the case of the missing cipher against him is also pending in the courts.

The cipher case against Chairman PTI is being heard by Judge Abul Hasanat Zulqarnain of the Special Court established under the Official Secrets Act.
