ISLAMABAD : The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has taken a significant step forward by registering a case pertaining to the vanishing of a cipher, implicating Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, Imran Khan.
Sources with knowledge of the matter have revealed that the FIA’s counter-terrorism wing has formally initiated an investigation into the disappearance of the cipher. Imran Khan has been formally named in the case, marking a pivotal moment in the ongoing probe.
High-ranking officers at the DIG level within the FIA’s counter-terrorism division have been assigned the task of diligently delving into the intricacies surrounding the cipher’s mysterious disappearance.
Simultaneously, the FIA conducted an extensive inquiry involving Chairman Imran Khan concerning the cipher’s disappearance. This incident has generated heightened interest as members of a joint investigation team meticulously questioned Imran Khan at Attock jail.
Reliable sources indicate that a meeting took place between Chairman PTI and authorities in the office of the Deputy Superintendent of Jail. The context and details of this interaction are crucial components of the unfolding narrative.
Cipher Controversy Unfolds
The enigma of the cipher has reverberated beyond the confines of the investigation. Chairman Imran Khan previously weaved a narrative of intrigue, suggesting a conspiracy against his government rooted in messages or ciphers transmitted by the Pakistani ambassador to the United States. Imran Khan alleged the involvement of the US in orchestrating the downfall of his administration based on these coded messages.
The National Security Committee convened to address the cipher controversy, effectively rejecting the PTI government’s claims tied to the cipher’s content.
A pivotal audio leak further escalated the cipher imbroglio, featuring Imran Khan and his former secretary Azam Khan discussing the matter. In the leaked conversation, Imran Khan implied a strategy of calculated engagement, stating, “now we have only to play, not to name America, just play this.” Azam Khan responded by proposing a meeting centered around the cipher.
Federal Cabinet Entrusts FIA with Investigation
In light of mounting concerns and public interest, the federal cabinet entrusted the FIA with the pivotal responsibility of investigating the cipher’s disappearance. Notably, Azam Khan, who formerly held the position of principal secretary under then-Prime Minister Imran Khan during the PTI government, played a central role in the unfolding events.
Military Denies Allegations
Former Director-General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lt. Gen. Babar Iftikhar, refuted the allegations tied to the cipher. Lt. Gen. Iftikhar asserted that attempts were made to sensationalize the cipher’s issue, and baseless rumors were propagated with the intent of reaping political gains.
As the investigation progresses and the puzzle surrounding the cipher deepens, it remains to be seen how this intriguing episode will influence the political landscape in Pakistan.
