The Meteorological Office forecasted on Monday that Eid ul Fitr’s first day would likely be on April 10, with the Shawwal moon anticipated to be sighted on April 9.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) stated that the crescent would emerge on April 8 at 11:21 pm and would be approximately 19 to 20 hours old by Maghrib prayer the next day.

The crescent is expected to be visible for over 50 minutes around sunset, the PMD noted.

The PMD mentioned that the sky would mostly be clear on April 9 in most parts of the country, with the possibility of cloudy weather in northern areas.

The crescent for the holy month of Ramadan was observed on March 11 in Pakistan, and the first day of Ramadan was marked the following day. Hence, if the PMD’s prediction holds true, Pakistanis would observe 29 days of fasting.

Eid ul Fitr is celebrated by Muslims worldwide after the conclusion of Ramadan and the beginning of Shawwal. Ramadan encourages the practice of patience, self-control, and charitable acts, with Eid serving as a joyous occasion immediately afterward.

Islamic months typically last for 29 or 30 days, with the start or end of a month determined by the sighting of the crescent moon, resulting in Ramadan not falling on a fixed date annually.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is nearly 10 days shorter than the Gregorian calendar due to its lunar-based calculations.

As a result, Ramadan occurs at varying times each year according to the Gregorian calendar.
