ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, during his national address, declared that the caretaker government would assume control of affairs in August 2023.
He emphasized that within a span of 15 months, the detrimental aftermath of four years of devastation had been rectified, successfully extinguishing economic crises, resolving foreign relations issues, and addressing other sectors.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his lack of concern for his vote bank, instead prioritizing the increase in State Bank reserves. He highlighted the government’s dedication to restoring the country’s economy while condemning those who sought to undermine Pakistan’s progress through nefarious plots and the risk of default.
He stressed the need for the nation to stand on its own feet, outlining a comprehensive economic recovery program. Despite facing conspiracies from enemies of the state, he assured that the government remained resolute and determined. The Prime Minister urged the nation to break free from the chains of debt and poverty, fostering unity and eradicating hatred.
In a previous speech during the Youth Loan Program in Multan, the Prime Minister candidly acknowledged that the IMF program entailed stringent conditions, likening it to a challenging commitment rather than a simple indulgence. He recognized the indispensability of the IMF loan for achieving economic stability and expressed gratitude that Pakistan had successfully avoided default.
It is worth noting that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Executive Board recently approved a $3 billion loan program for Pakistan, with the country already receiving an initial installment of $1.02 billion.
