LAHORE: The Lahore Accountability Court has indicted former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and other accused in a NAB reference for alleged kickbacks and corruption in development projects.
The court completed the attendance of Parvez Elahi in his vehicle, where he signed the charge sheet. The former chief minister denied the charges, and the court summoned witnesses for the next hearing.
Parvez Elahi and other accused are alleged to have received bribes and kickbacks in development projects in Gujarat.
According to the NAB reference, Parvez Elahi and his son Moonis Elahi established a network for appointing favored officers and receiving kickbacks through Muhammad Khan Bhatti. Muhammad Khan Bhatti has been described as Parvez Elahi’s frontman.

At the previous hearing, the court decided to indict the accused in two phases due to their absence.
The court stated in a written order that the accused faced difficulties in completing their attendance, and several applications were filed for exemption from attendance on medical grounds.
The indictment was also filed against other accused, including Muhammad Khan Bhatti, Khalid Mahmood Chatha, Asif Mahmood, Naeem Iqbal, Muhammad Asghar, and Asad Ali.
