ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) has cancelled examinations scheduled for May 10 after violent protests erupted following the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.
The Pakistan Studies exam for class nine will not take place in Pakistan as well as abroad, according to the board’s controller of examinations.
The new date for the exam will be announced later. The British Council has also cancelled all papers scheduled for May 10, while the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Hyderabad, Board of Secondary Education, Karachi will continue exams.
Punjab education authorities have cancelled the ninth-class exam scheduled for May 10 and closed all colleges and universities in the province.
The PTI has urged supporters to protest and “block all roads, close all shops” following Khan’s arrest.
