KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced a holiday for all Private and Public Schools across the province on 27 Ramadan, which falls on March 28, 2025 a Friday, due to Shab-e-Qadr. A notification has also been issued for this.
According to the notification from the Sindh Education Department, all educational institutions in the province will remain closed on Friday, 27 Ramadan, for Shab-e-Qadr.
It should be noted that the federal government has announced holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr from March 31 to April 2. The Sindh and Punjab governments have also declared public holidays on the same dates.

As per the official notification, all public and private educational institutions under the administrative control of the School Education and Literacy Department, Government of Sindh, will remain closed on Friday, March 28, 2025, on account of Shab-e-Qadr (27th Ramadan, 1446).
The official notification is signed by Ashraf Hussain Ansari, Deputy Secretary (A&T), on behalf of the Secretary to the Government of Sindh.

On the other hand, Pakistan’s Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has made a prediction about the sighting of the Shawwal moon.
According to SUPARCO’s statement, the month of Ramadan is expected to last 29 days, and Eid-ul-Fitr will be on March 31.
The statement says that the new Shawwal moon will form on March 29 at 3:58 PM. By sunset on March 30, the moon will be about 27 hours old.
The statement also mentions that on March 30, the angle between the moon and the sun will be around 16 degrees, and the moon’s height at sunset will be about 14 degrees.
This means the moon will be easily visible to the human eye on March 30. However, the final decision about the Eid-ul-Fitr moon sighting will be made by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
