ISLAMABAD: Police have arrested the suspect involved in the brutal murder of a 23-year-old female student of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). The student, Eman Afroz, was shot inside her private hostel room located in Sector G-10/1 of the capital.
Addressing a press conference, Islamabad DIG Jawad Tariq said the suspect, Feroze, is a resident of Jhang and had been on the run since the incident. He was finally arrested after a detailed investigation.
According to reports, on April 19, the accused climbed the hostel wall with a pistol in hand and remained in the courtyard for about an hour. When the student saw him and walked away, he followed her and forcefully entered her room. Three other girls were present in the room at the time. He threatened them to remain quiet and then opened fire on Eman, seriously injuring her.
The suspect escaped by jumping the wall again. Eman was rushed to the hospital but died due to her injuries.

Ramna police registered a case on the complaint of Eman’s brother and launched an investigation. Police revealed that the suspect has a criminal record and has previously been charged in rape and motorcycle theft cases.
DIG Jawad Tariq confirmed that further investigation is ongoing and a complete challan will be submitted based on strong evidence.
Meanwhile, IG Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi appreciated the police officers who quickly solved Eman’s case and other high-profile cases like the Sana Yousaf murder.
