ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to attend the coronation ceremony of King Charles III in London on May 6, according to a statement released wednesday.
In his statement, the prime minister expressed the strong and enduring relationship between Pakistan and the UK, which he plans to reinforce through meetings with other world leaders during his trip. The prime minister also intends to attend the Commonwealth leaders’ summit and engage in bilateral discussions with other world leaders.
Following the coronation ceremony, the prime minister is expected to have a series of consultations with Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif.
The prime minister was unable to meet with Sharif during his recent trip to Saudi Arabia, where the two leaders were set to perform Umrah. It is believed that important decisions will be discussed during their meetings.
The prime minister will travel to London on his special plane, with a potential technical stopover in Istanbul on his way. He may also touch down in Saudi Arabia before returning to Pakistan, although the details of his travel schedule have not been finalized.
The prime minister held extensive consultations with his cabinet colleagues yesterday in preparation for his London visit, according to sources.
