PESHAWAR: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a heatwave alert for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from June 7 to 12. All district administrations have been asked to stay alert.

According to PDMA, temperatures during Eid holidays are expected to rise 5 to 7 degrees Celsius above normal. The heat will be more intense in southern and central parts of the province.

There is also a chance of dust storms and strong winds due to extreme heat. The hot and dry weather may increase the risk of heatstroke and put pressure on water resources.

PDMA warned that the rising temperatures could speed up the melting of snow in upper areas. People are advised to avoid going out in the sun unnecessarily and to drink more water.

Farmers have been asked to take extra care while harvesting crops and to look after their animals in the hot weather.

PDMA has also directed authorities to raise public awareness about the heatwave. Parents are advised to keep children indoors between 10 am and 5 pm. All departments should remain ready to respond to any emergency situation.

Pakistan Meteorological Department’s Nationwide Warning

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has also issued a nationwide warning about rising temperatures. From June 7 to 12, the weather is expected to remain unusually hot across the country.

Experts say that increased atmospheric pressure will likely push temperatures even higher, especially in upper Punjab, Islamabad, and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa—where temperatures may go 5 to 7 degrees Celsius above normal.

In Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan, the weather will also remain extremely hot, with temperatures expected to stay 4 to 6 percent above average. Authorities have advised the public to avoid unnecessary exposure to sunlight, drink plenty of water, and take safety precautions to stay protected from the heat.
