The Sindh government has declared a public holiday in Umerkot district on Thursday ( April 17, 2025) , due to the by-election in National Assembly constituency NA-213. A notification regarding the holiday has been officially issued.
The seat became vacant following the death of MNA Nawab Yousaf Talpur, who was elected from NA-213 Umerkot in the 2024 general elections. He passed away in February 2025.
According to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), polling for the by-election will take place on April 17, 2025. The ECP had earlier issued a detailed schedule for the by-election.
Key Dates
Nomination papers were issued on March 3, 2025.
Candidates submitted their papers between March 4 and March 6.
The list of candidates was published on March 7.
Scrutiny of nomination papers was completed by March 13.
Appeals against the decisions of the Returning Officers were allowed until March 17 and decided by March 24.
The revised list of candidates was published on March 25.

The last date for withdrawal of candidature was March 26.
Election symbols were issued to candidates on March 27.
The ECP also announced the appointment of key election officials for the by-election:
Deputy Commissioner Umerkot, Naveed Rehman Larik, was appointed as District Returning Officer.
Assistant Commissioner Rajab Sathio was named the Returning Officer.
Mukhtiarkar Umerkot Azhar Ali Chachar, Assistant Education Officer Rano Mal, and Taluka Education Officer (Male) Pithoro Fareed Ahmed were appointed as Assistant Returning Officers.
