KARACHI: Preparations for the ‘Maweshi dost mandi 2025’ at Northern Bypass, Karachi, are in their final stages, the market will officially open on April 19, with Administrator Shahab Khan briefing the media on April 18.
As per the media reports, Several facilities have been arranged for traders and buyers, including four entry-free routes and a token system for purchasing animals to ensure the safety of both buyers and animals.
Animals for sacrifice are arriving from various cities in Punjab, Karachi, and other parts of Sindh. The market, featuring animals of different breeds and sizes, will be fully operational from April 19.
For convenience, the market administration has introduced a token system. Buyers purchasing, for example, ten animals will receive ten tokens, which can be shown to take the animals outside the market boundaries easily.
This measure aims to protect the animals. An ATM facility is available, and parking fees have been reduced by up to 50% to encourage visitors.

Traders in general blocks can bring their own quality tents, while those in VVIP and VIP blocks are offered relief on tent setup. Tents can be obtained from the administration at discounted rates or set up by traders after paying a concessional space fee.
Tents must meet the administration’s standards, and non-compliant tents can be replaced with ones provided at discounted rates. Traders from Punjab and Sindh are being provided with all possible facilities ahead of the market’s opening.
Astronomers Predict Eid al-Adha 2025 Date
As per the details, Astronomers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have predicted that Eid al-Adha will likely be observed on Friday, June 6, 2025.
According to the Emirates Astronomy Society, the crescent moon for the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah is expected to be visible on the evening of May 27. If confirmed, the first day of Dhu al-Hijjah in the UAE will be May 28.

The moon will rise at 7:02 AM (UAE time) and remain visible for about 38 minutes after sunset, increasing the chances of sighting.
Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Society, stated that the official Eid dates will be confirmed based on local moon sightings.
As per the UAE’s official holiday calendar, Arafah Day and Eid al-Adha holidays will likely span Dhu al-Hijjah 9 to 12 (1445 AH), meaning a four-day break for residents.
