KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is all set to launch direct flights from Lahore to Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, starting April 20, 2025. According to the airline, two flights will operate every week on this route—one on Sunday and the other on Wednesday.
According to airline officials, the new service is aimed at boosting tourism and strengthening trade ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. Round-trip fares from Lahore to Baku will start at 440 US dollars, excluding taxes.
It is important to note that this step follows the successful launch of PIA’s Karachi-Baku direct flights in April 2024. The first flight from Baku to Karachi received a warm welcome at Jinnah International Airport with a traditional water cannon salute by the Civil Aviation Authority.
At the time, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori and the Ambassador of Azerbaijan were present to see off the first group of passengers traveling from Karachi to Baku. Governor Tessori said the new flights would create more opportunities for tourism and trade between the two countries. The Azerbaijani ambassador echoed these sentiments, stating that the direct connection also opens doors for business ventures and economic cooperation.

As per PIA’s official website, the Lahore-Baku flights, identified as PK159 and PK160, will take approximately 4 hours and 50 minutes. Passengers can book tickets through PIA’s official channels or authorized travel agents. The airline recommends booking in advance to secure the best fares and availability.
According to experts, this new route is expected to bring more ease to travelers and help build stronger economic and cultural ties between the two countries. PIA is further expanding air connectivity between Pakistan and Azerbaijan with the addition of the Lahore-Baku route, following the successful launch of the Karachi-Baku flights.
