ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has given Approval to the suggestions from the High-Powered Selection Board (HPSB) for the promotion of 47 officers from Grade-21 to Grade-22.

A private newspaper says that the Establishment Division has made a plan for where these promoted officers will work and sent it to the prime minister. Once he approves it, the official notice for these promotions will come out in one or two days.

The plan shows that some officers will stay in their current ministries, while others who are now Grade-21 officers will move to Grade-22 positions. The HPSB met on March 5 and 10 this month, with the deputy prime minister leading the meetings.

The board suggested promoting 19 officers from the Pakistan Administrative Service, eight from the Police Service, and nine from the Foreign Service to Grade-22.

The newspaper report also says the board recommended promoting five officers from the Secretariat Group, two from Audit and Accounts, and one each from the Information, Economist, Postal, and Railways groups.

They also suggested promoting IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon, Chairman FBR Rashid Langrial, Secretary Petroleum Momin Agha, Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Secretary Education Mohiuddin Wani, and Secretary Information Ambreen Jan.

From the Police Service, BA Nasir, Muhammad Farooq Mazhar, Imran Yaqoob, Abdul Khaliq Sheikh, Muhammad Zubair Hashmi, Muhammad Shahzad Sultan, and Muhammad Tahir were recommended for promotion.

From the Secretariat Group, Ayesha Humaira, Zahoor Ahmed, Dr Nawaz, Hammad Shamimi, and Muhammad Aslam Ghori were recommended for promotion from Grade-21 to Grade-22.

From the Foreign Service, Ahmed Naseem Warraich, Rahim Hayat Qureshi, Asim Iftikhar Ahmed, Syed Ahsan Raza Shah, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Saqlain Syeda, Shafqat Ali Khan, and Nabeel Munir were promoted.

The list also includes Dr Imtiaz from the Economist Group and Samiullah Khan from the Postal Group for promotion. The board also suggested promoting Syed Mazhar from the Railways Group, and Shahzad Hassan and Syed Muhammad Ammar Naqvi from Audit and Accounts.

Seven officers from the Inland Revenue Service and Pakistan Customs could not be promoted earlier because of a court order stopping it. Now that the court order is lifted, the HPSB will meet within a month to promote these seven officers from Grade-21 to Grade-22.
