Sindh announces scholarship program for minority students, offers Rs25,000 each

KARACHI: The Government of Sindh has introduced a scholarship program 2025 designed to assist thousands of students from minority communities, with the goal of promoting their educational advancement.

As per the private tv channel report, the provincial minority affairs department says students need to have passed their exams last year with at least 50% marks to qualify. They must also be from minority communities and live permanently in Sindh.

The scholarships are for students whose parents earn Rs35,000 or less per month. Each student who gets the scholarship will receive Rs25,000.

This program is part of the government’s plan to help students from low-income families and encourage education for everyone in the area.

Last week, the Sindh government also launched a job portal to help people find work. The portal will list jobs from both government and private companies.

The launch event was attended by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, business leaders, and many other important people, according to Express News.

At the event, Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that 65% of Pakistan’s population is young, and the portal is meant to help them find jobs.

He explained that both educated people and skilled workers can upload their CVs to the portal. Memon also said it will connect job seekers with opportunities in both government and private sectors.

In other news, due to less rainfall this season, people in various parts of the country are dealing with a lack of water. The water level in Mangla Dam has now dropped to its lowest point, known as the dead level.

Media reports say that WAPDA officials have noted the water level in Mangla Dam is down to 1,050 feet, and they have stopped releasing water.

A spokesperson mentioned that Tarbela Dam is just 3 feet above its dead level and could reach it within the next 36 hours. The spokesperson added that the water level in Tarbela Dam is at 1,402 feet. The water stored in Tarbela is 15,000 acre-feet, in Mangla it is 72,000 acre-feet, and in Chashma it is 15,000 acre-feet.

The spokesperson said that the combined water storage in Tarbela, Mangla, and Chashma totals 102,000 acre-feet.
