Sindh government provides financial aid to 37 hospitals from Zakat fund

KARACHI: The Sindh government has provided financial help to 37 hospitals from the Zakat Fund.

According to a notification, the Sindh Zakat Department has released 200 million rupees. This money is meant for free treatment and medicines for deserving patients.

The notification states that government and welfare hospitals will receive support from the Zakat Fund. The amount of 200 million rupees has been released from the 2024 and 2025 budgets.

As per the notification, the funds have been transferred to the hospitals’ accounts. Civil Hospital received 12.5 million rupees, while Jinnah Hospital got 10 million rupees.

Lyari General Hospital received 2.75 million rupees, and Sobhraj Maternity Hospital was given 1.25 million rupees.

The notification also mentions that Creek General Hospital Korangi received 2.5 million rupees, and District Council Hospital Jam Kando Karachi was given 1 million rupees.

On the other hand, The Sindh government will officially take control of the Green Line and Orange Line BRT systems on March 10.

As per the report, the Sindh Mass Transit Authority Board has approved taking over the Green Line and Orange Line BRT operations. The 14th meeting of the Sindh Mass Transit Authority Board was held, chaired by Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon.

Experts present at the meeting shared their suggestions for managing the Green Line and Orange Line BRT effectively. The board discussed sending documents related to the Green Line and Orange Line BRT agreements to the Law Department for legal review.
