ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced special lifetime ID cards for persons with disabilities and organ donors across Pakistan.
These cards will have a wheelchair symbol to help in easier identification and better service access.
A NADRA spokesperson said the government has approved changes to the National Identity Card Rules of 2002 to introduce these cards.
The cards for disabled persons will be valid for life and available for both citizens in Pakistan and those living abroad. Special Juvenile ID cards (B-Forms) for children with disabilities will also have the wheelchair symbol. To get these cards, people with disabilities must register with the relevant authorities.
Organ donors will receive a lifetime card showing both a wheelchair and donor symbol if registered with donor authorities. NADRA said these changes will officially take effect once published in the Gazette of Pakistan.
