RAWALPINDI: Submitting a power of attorney proved costly for lawyer Mishal Yousafzai during the 9th May GHQ attack case at the Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC).
The court raised serious concerns regarding the validity of a power of attorney submitted by Ms. Yousafzai, given that her law license had been previously suspended.
During the hearing, Prosecutor Zaheer Shah objected to the power of attorney submitted by Mishal Yousafzai on behalf of the PTI chairman. He said that Mishal’s license was suspended by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar.
He questioned how she could sign the document despite the suspension. The prosecutor requested the court to take action against Mishal Yousafzai for alleged forgery.

The ATC issued a show-cause notice to Mishal Yousafzai for submitting the document despite her license suspension. The court noted that Mishal failed to deny the suspension and said the act appeared to be professional misconduct.
The court directed her to submit a written reply at the next hearing. She was asked to explain why her license cancellation should not be recommended to the Bar Council and why criminal proceedings should not be initiated against her. The hearing was adjourned until January 25.
