RAWALPINDI: Urban and rural areas of Murree were plunged into complete darkness due to a power breakdown in the district. The outage was caused by the tripping of the 132 kV main line.
As a result of the breakdown, power was cut off in areas including Mall Road, Jhikagali, Bhurban, Expressway, and others. Both tourists and local residents are facing difficulties due to the outage. The IESCO XEN mentioned that staff are working in the field to restore power, but it may take some time before electricity is fully restored.
Meanwhile, a technical fault at the Gwadar grid station also led to a citywide power cut in Gwadar. Areas such as Surbandan and Nagor, which are connected to the Gwadar grid, were also left without electricity. K-Electric officials reported that a team from Turbat had been sent to resolve the issue.
This comes just days after a similar power outage in Karachi disrupted the water supply. A fault at the Dhabeji pumping station temporarily halted water delivery, causing a 72-inch pipeline to burst. The rupture resulted in millions of gallons of water being wasted and flooding in nearby areas.
