KARACHI: The Sindh government has issued a notification of a new grading policy at matric and intermediate (SSC & HSSC) levels in the province, under which students will receive grades instead of marks and positions in exams.
Thus, Sindh became the first province in the country to approve the grading policy.
According to the notification issued by Secretary Boards and Universities Abbas Baloch, the new grading policy will be implemented in Sindh starting from 2025, under which students will receive grades instead of marks and positions.
According to the formula of the new grading policy, the first, second, and third positions will be eliminated.

The education boards of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan have not yet approved the new grading policy.
According to the new grading policy formula set by IBCC, 95 or more marks will be given an “A” exceptional grade, 90 marks will be given an “A” excellent grade, and 85 marks will also be given an “A” excellent grade.
Thus, a score of 80 will be given a “B” very good grade, 75 will be given a “B” good grade, 70 will be given a “B” fair good grade, and 60 will be given a “C” above average grade.
Additionally, 50 marks will be given a “D” average grade, 40 to 49 marks will be given an “E” below average grade, and those below 40 will be given an “F” unsatisfactory grade.
