ISLAMABAD: The federal government banned Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) and added it to the list of banned organizations, a notification regarding the ban was issued.
According to media reports, the Federal Government of Pakistan has banned the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement, and the Ministry of Interior has issued a notification regarding this.
The Home Ministry’s notification said that the government has reasons to believe that PTM is involved in activities that pose a threat to peace and security in the country.
The Ministry of Home Affairs’ notification said that under Section 11B of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, PTM is being included in the list of Prohibited Organizations in the First Schedule.
According to private TV, PTM chief Manzoor Pashteen had also met Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in recent days.
Manzoor Pashteen also invited Ali Amin Gandapur to attend the Pashtun National Jirga.
As per media reports, the banned PTM has said that its core committee meeting is ongoing, after the meeting, a statement will be issued on the matter.

It should be remembered that on October 4, the Peshawar High Court had said in the petition filed against the national jirga scheduled in Khyber district of PTM, “Let the jirga be held and then see what it does.”
The petition filed against the Qaumi Jirga was heard on Friday by a two-member bench comprising Justice Syed Arshad Ali and Justice Waqar Ahmed of the Peshawar High Court.
Khatriullah, a resident of Khyber district, has filed an application in the Peshawar High Court to stop the National Jirga of PTM.
According to the petitioner, courts have been established in the annexed districts as well, following the formation of Pakistan.
