FPSC recruits 1,090 in CSS: 40% women inductions show significant increase

ISLAMABAD: Over the past five years, the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) recruited 1,090 individuals into the Central Superior Services, with 410 of them being women.

This represents 40 percent of the total inductions in civil services, a significant increase compared to three decades ago when women comprised less than three percent.

As most civil servants reach Grade-20 and 21 by retirement, more women will soon be seen as ambassadors, secretaries, and in senior positions within the police and other civil services of Pakistan.

The past five-year record shows that Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir have utilized all women’s seats in the Pakistan Civil Services, whereas Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have consistently under-utilized women’s seats in the Civil Services.

In the Foreign Service of Pakistan, the data reveals that 82 officers were inducted over the past five years, with 52 being male and 30 female.

According to a medin Report, In the Police Services of Pakistan, 147 officers were inducted in the past five years, with only 34 being women. In Pakistan’s Administrative Services, 197 inductions were made, of which 63 were women. In Sindh, 123 seats for women remained unallocated over the past five years.

In Balochistan, 65 seats and 28 seats from KP for women in civil services remained unallocated over the past five years. A fixed quota of 10 percent for the employment of women in the Federal Government Services, including CSS posts, was established in 2007.
