ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari stressed the necessity of meaningful dialogue and consensus to propel the nation forward.
Speaking at a joint session of Parliament in Islamabad, he highlighted the importance of fostering an environment of mutual respect and political reconciliation, drawing inspiration from esteemed leaders such as Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Shaheed Zulfiakar Ali Bhutto, and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
Articulating his vision for the future, President Zardari urged political leaders to prioritize the specific needs of marginalized communities and underdeveloped areas, emphasizing the imperative of advancing towards inclusive growth.
He emphasized the urgency of revitalizing Pakistan’s economy, with a primary focus on attracting foreign direct investment.
He called upon the government to redouble efforts in implementing comprehensive reforms to facilitate ease of doing business and streamline regulations, creating a conducive environment for both domestic and foreign investors.
President Zardari praised the establishment of the Special Investment Facilitation Council as a positive step towards attracting investment in key sectors.
Highlighting the importance of fostering positive relationships and effective coordination between the Federal Government and the Provinces, he underscored the necessity of urgently investing in climate-friendly and resilient infrastructure to address the escalating risks of climate change.
Expressing concerns over the resurgence of terrorism, President Zardari reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to combating terrorist elements.
He expressed gratitude to friendly countries, including Saudi Arabia, UAE, China, Turkey, and Qatar, for their unwavering support during challenging times.
Regarding relations with China, President Zardari affirmed Pakistan’s determination to safeguard vital projects and uphold the strong bond between the two nations, vowing not to allow hostile elements to undermine this crucial partnership.
