Here’s how to get PTA’s free 2GB data and 200 minutes offer

ISLAMABAD: The number of mobile phone users in Pakistan has reached 200 million, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced it will provide free data packages for mobile users.

According to the report, a ceremony was organized by PTI for surpassing the milestone of 200 million subscribers. Federal Minister for IT Shazia Fatima, PTI Chairman Major General R Hafeez ur Rehman, and PTI Licensing DG Amir Shahzad participated in the event.

Addressing the ceremony, Federal Minister for IT Shazia Fatima said that reaching 200 million users in Pakistan is a moment of pride. These 200 million connections are not just numbers but Pakistan’s strength. The youth of Pakistan are our greatest asset.

She stated that efforts are underway to auction spectrum soon. Work is also being done on the policy of providing mobile phones on installments to citizens. So far, under the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme, 1.2 million laptops have been distributed.

She further said that access to mobile phones and the internet has improved for women in Pakistan. The gender gap among mobile phone users has decreased from 36% to 25%. More than eight lakh women have made mobile wallets in a month. We aim to make cashless economy a reality in the country.

Speaking at the ceremony, PTI Chairman Major General R Hafeez ur Rehman said that there are currently 150 million internet users in the country.

The telecom industry, government, and investors are on the same page in Pakistan. A digital economy without telecom is impossible. Celebrations are being held for users on reaching 200 million. Pakistan is a country where great work is being done.

On this occasion, PTI has announced that all mobile users will be given free 2GB data and 200 minutes. This offer will be available on all mobile networks and can be obtained by dialing *2200# on June 20, 2025 (All Mobile Operators).

To celebrate this milestone, PTA and CMOs (Jazz, Telenor, Ufone, Zong, and SCO) are offering free 2GB data and 200 on-net minutes (valid for 24 hours) to all mobile users on June 20, 2025. Subscribers can avail the offer by dialing *2200# from any mobile network

Furthermore, on the recommendation of Nadra, the Ministry of Interior has directed the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority to phase out mobile sims issued on expired identity cards.

According to the letter sent by Nadra, detailed data has been provided to PTI in this regard, including a list of all relevant identity cards and a schedule to stop mobile sims.

In the first phase, mobile sims issued on these identity cards will be discontinued on June 30, whose validity expired in 2017, and mobile sims of identity cards exceeding validity in 2018 will be discontinued on July 31.
