Pakistan and Saudi Arabia Pledge to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating and advancing bilateral cooperation for the mutual benefit of both nations.

During a meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and the visiting Defence Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, at Aiwan-i-Sadr on Saturday, the two sides discussed the importance of strengthening their fraternal bond and historical relations.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Federal Minister for Defence and Defence Production Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, and Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki were also in attendance.

President Zardari welcomed the esteemed guest, emphasizing Pakistan’s high regard for its relations with Saudi Arabia. He stressed the necessity of expanding bilateral cooperation across various domains and expressed deep gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s support during challenging times.

He commended the leadership of His Majesty King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud and the visionary approach of Crown Prince His Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, which is driving Saudi Arabia towards significant progress.

The Saudi Defence Minister highlighted the strong historical, strategic, and defence cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the importance of further deepening bilateral relations. He underscored his country’s belief in regional prosperity and its success in enhancing economic integration.

Previously, President Asif Ali Zardari conferred the Nishan-i-Pakistan award on His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud during a Special Investiture Ceremony.

The award recognized the Prince’s commendable contributions to strengthening bilateral cooperation and promoting peace in the region. President Zardari extended congratulations to Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud on receiving the award and thanked him for his efforts in advancing defence ties.
