RAWALPINDI: Two Pakistan Army officers and five soldiers were martyred following a terrorist attack on a security post in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan District, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations on Saturday.

According to the military’s media wing, a group of six terrorists launched an assault on the post in the early hours of the day. Although the troops initially thwarted their intrusion attempt, the terrorists later drove an explosive-laden vehicle into the post. Subsequently, they carried out multiple suicide bombings, causing a portion of a building to collapse and resulting in the tragic loss of lives of the brave soldiers.

“In the subsequent clearance operation, our troops under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Kashif engaged and neutralized all six terrorists,” the statement noted.

The martyrs, identified by ISPR as Havildar Sabir (from District Khyber), Naik Khurshid (from District Lakki Marwat), Sepoy Nasir (from District Peshawar), Sepoy Raja (from District Kohat), and Sepoy Sajjad (from District Abbottabad), displayed exemplary courage in the face of danger.

During the intense exchange of fire, 39-year-old Lieutenant Colonel Syed Kashif Ali and 23-year-old Captain Muhammad Ahmed Badar also laid down their lives while leading their troops. Lieutenant Colonel Ali was from Karachi, while Captain Badar hailed from District Talagang.

“Security forces are conducting a sanitization operation to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the area. The sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve to eradicate terrorism from our country,” ISPR emphasized.
