RAWALPINDI: Security forces conducted separate operations in different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) on Wednesday night, resulting in the killing of two militants, including a terrorist ring leader, as reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
In a concise announcement on Thursday, ISPR disclosed that during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khyber district, a terrorist ring leader known as Shamrooz, alias Sheenay, was killed in a fierce encounter between militants and security forces.
Simultaneously, another terrorist identified as Mansoor was neutralized in a separate operation in Dera Ismail Khan district, stated the military’s media wing.
The ISPR revealed that the deceased terrorists were actively involved in various terrorist activities against security forces, as well as extortion and target killings of civilians. They were high-value targets sought by law enforcement agencies.
Additionally, weapons, ammunition, and explosives were seized from the slain terrorists.
Furthermore, ISPR mentioned ongoing sanitization operations aimed at eliminating any remaining terrorists in the area.
Local residents expressed their support for the military’s efforts in combating terrorism and praised the operations conducted by security forces.
Pakistan experienced a surge in terrorist attacks in Balochistan and KP provinces in recent months, impacting the pre-election phase in certain provincial areas.
In response, security forces escalated actions against terrorism-afflicted regions, resulting in the restoration of peace, particularly along the Afghanistan border.
Notably, last week, three terrorists were killed and four others injured during an exchange of fire with Pakistani security forces in an IBO in KP’s Karak district.
