ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Pavilion has clinched the “Best In-Show – International Tourism Development” accolade at the 2024 Travel and Adventure Show in New York.
The esteemed two-day event, running from January 27-28, boasts the participation of over 550 leading destinations, tour companies, cruise lines, and travel providers globally. Nearly 190 countries are partaking in the exhibition.
Ambassador Masood Khan, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, inaugurated the event. The Pakistan Pavilion is a collaborative effort involving the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Pakistan’s Consulate General in New York, and private sector companies.
The opening ceremony witnessed the presence of Minister of Tourism Gilgit Baltistan (GB) Ghulam Muhammad, former GB minister Raja Nasir Ali Khan, and Consul General of Pakistan in New York Aamer Ahmed Atozai.
A 60-member delegation, comprising representatives from PTDC, TDAP, and 24 private sector companies, is representing Pakistan at the Travel and Adventure Show.
The exhibition will showcase live performances by Pakistani artisans specializing in lacquer woodwork and traditional doll making, highlighting the diverse tourism potential of the nation.
Expressing satisfaction, Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States stated, “It is a matter of pride for us that Pakistan Pavilion has been awarded the Best in Show in International Travel and Adventure Show.”
Ambassador Khan emphasized the increasing global interest in Pakistan’s tourism market, especially in adventure and eco-tourism. He highlighted Pakistan’s unexplored tourist sites with immense potential.
With a history of over 19 years and 118 completed events, the Travel & Adventure Show has connected millions of travel enthusiasts, travel advisors, and travel media with thousands of exhibiting companies worldwide, influencing over $6 billion in travel bookings.
Ambassador Khan invited participants to explore Pakistan’s timeless beauty, from ancient civilizations to natural wonders, and urged support for the thriving tourism sector.
In a congratulatory message, Wasi Shah, State Minister for Tourism and Chairman PTDC, praised the organizers for their efforts in ensuring the representation of all regions of Pakistan at the Pavilion.
