ISLAMABAD, JAN 8 (Newsdesk) : The Secretary of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Omar Hamid, has clarified that his resignation has not been accepted by the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), who advised him to rest at home during his treatment.
Hamid had submitted his resignation on January 5, but the CEC, Sikandar Sultan Raja, advised him to prioritize rest at home instead of working during his treatment.
During a telephonic conversation with the media, Hamid stated that his doctors had recommended rest as part of his treatment. Despite submitting his resignation on January 5, the CEC did not accept it and instead advised him to recuperate at home.
Hamid revealed that he has been diagnosed with a chest infection and is presently receiving treatment at a hospital in Blue Area, Islamabad.
Earlier reports had indicated that Hamid had resigned from his position due to poor health.
Sources had indicated that Hamid’s resignation was prompted by his declining health.
