ISLAMABAD: The interim government has announced a reduction in petrol prices by Rs14 per litre for the upcoming two-week period.

The Finance Division, in a notice, confirmed the adjusted rates suggested by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) will be effective from December 16 until December 31.

Under the new pricing, petrol will cost Rs267.34 per litre, down by Rs14, while diesel will be priced at Rs276.21 per litre after a decrease of Rs13.50 per litre, as stated by the Finance Division.

Kerosene oil will witness a reduction of Rs10.14 per litre, reaching Rs191.02 per litre, whereas light diesel oil will now be priced at Rs164.64 per litre, down by Rs11.29 per litre.

The recent decline in global oil prices over the last fortnight prompted this adjustment, which was expected during the upcoming review of fuel prices.

It’s part of the government’s routine to reassess petroleum prices every two weeks, aligning them with international market fluctuations and the rupee’s exchange rate.
